Art in Texture: Rosie Eisor’s “Beast”
Rosie Eisor’s inaugural solo exhibition featured a series of tufted carpets that explored legendary beasts and mythological monsters. The design of the exhibition poster and collateral materials strategically incorporated details from her artworks to communicate both the thematic content and the tactile nature of the medium, while maintaining a sense of mystery by not displaying the full pieces. A postcard-flyer, however, provided visitors with an unfiltered reproduction of one of the carpets as a souvenir.
The poster’s production involved a range of printing techniques, notably an offset printing experiment. This experiment compared the results of printing with two direct tones versus four-color CMYK printing (black and magenta on a Heidelberg GTO, cyan and yellow on a Heidelberg Speedmaster), allowing for a comparative analysis of color reproduction.
